Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adopting them as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections.
The endorsement followed a motion moved by the APC candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, on Friday August 7, 2026 during an enlarged meeting of the APC Delta North Senatorial District held in Asaba.
The motion was seconded by the member representing Oshimili North State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwa, before receiving overwhelming approval from party members.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.; the APC Delta North Senatorial candidate, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON; the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Solomon Areyenka; the Delta North Senatorial District Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Ossai; and other party leaders and stakeholders.
Also at the meeting included Council Chairmen and their deputies from the nine local government councils in the Delta North Senatorial Districts.
Following the adoption of the motion, Chief Areyenka put the resolution before members, who unanimously endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as the APC’s sole candidates for President and Governor in the 2027 general elections respectively.
Addressing party faithful, Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme highlighted the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration, describing the President’s economic reforms as bold, courageous and transformational.
“No President before Bola Ahmed Tinubu had taken the courageous decisions to remove fuel subsidy and implement state policing reforms. Today, state and local governments can execute multi-billion-naira projects because of the multiplier benefits of these economic policies.
“Today, no tier of government owes workers or contractors because President Bola Tinubu, through his economic policies, has ensured there is enough money for all tiers of government to execute their electoral mandates.
“Our President is tackling insurgency and improving national security. Here in Delta State, what Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is doing is visible for everyone to see. Our state is being transformed. There are resources for government to work, so let us keep Nigeria on the path of sustainable progress.
“Tell the people that President Bola Tinubu is doing very well. Look at the unbundling of the power sector, the benefits are enormous.
“We must be proud of all our candidates, starting with President Bola Tinubu. Let us reach out to our constituents, reconcile with those who may feel disappointed after the congresses and reassure them that their future is brighter within the APC,” the Deputy Governor stated.
Also speaking, the APC Delta North Senatorial candidate for the 2027 elections, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation within the party.
“The APC in Delta North and across Delta State is one family. All of us who are candidates of the party should submit ourselves in humility and ensure genuine reconciliation as members of one family.
“Our strength truly lies in our unity. There is a lot of work for us to do. This is the time for inclusion. To our leaders in our various local governments and wards, this is the time to extend our hands of fellowship to those who did not emerge victorious during the party primaries.”
The former Governor also outlined reasons he believes Nigerians will overwhelmingly support APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Solomon Areyenka, urged members to remain focused on strengthening the party from the grassroots.
“In every contest, there will be a winner and a loser, but the party remains paramount,” he said, urging party leaders to intensify mobilization efforts at the ward and unit levels while ensuring that no member feels alienated.
Earlier, the Chairman of the APC Delta North Senatorial District, Chief Dan Ossai, congratulated all those who emerged as candidates of the party for the 2027 general elections.
He particularly appreciated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Chief Nkem Okwuofu and other party leaders for their support, guidance and commitment to keeping the APC united and formidable across the senatorial district.
Chief Ossai called for sustained efforts toward greater unity and stronger grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.
In an interview with journalists after the meeting, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu described the unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as a strong demonstration of the unity, confidence and renewed resolve of APC members in Delta North ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged party members to close ranks and channel their energies towards strengthening the party at the grassroots, stressing that unity, reconciliation and inclusive leadership would remain the bedrock of electoral success.
Elumelu called on party leaders at all levels to embrace every member, irrespective of the outcome of the party primaries, insisting that there should be no room for bitterness or division within the APC family.
According to him, the APC in Delta North has become stronger, more united and better positioned than ever before, adding that every member has a vital role to play in consolidating the party’s growing acceptance across the senatorial district and Delta State.
He said the endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was not merely symbolic but a clear expression of confidence in leaders whose policies and programmes have continued to positively impact the lives of Nigerians and Deltans.
Elumelu further urged party members to return to their respective wards and polling units to intensify mobilisation, noting that victory in the 2027 general elections would be driven by effective grassroots engagement, sustained reconciliation and the collective commitment of all party faithful.
Chairmen of the APC from the nine local government areas of Delta North Senatorial District presented reports on the state of the party in their respective areas, unanimously affirming that the APC remained united, vibrant and well-positioned ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other party leaders, including Chief Nkem Okwuofu and Sir Fidelis Tilije, also expressed optimism that with sustained unity, reconciliation and coordinated grassroots mobilisation, the APC would record resounding victories in Delta North and across Delta State in the 2027 general elections.
