The Integrity Group of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, has declared its support for the return of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu to the House of Representatives, describing the former Minority Leader as a strong choice for effective representation of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election.
The State Chairman of the group, Dr. Martin Nwachukwu Bolum, said the endorsement was based on Elumelu’s experience in the National Assembly, his record of constituency interventions and his demonstrated capacity to attract federal development projects to communities across the four local government areas that make up the constituency.
Speaking on the group’s position, Bolum said Elumelu’s previous service in the House had given him a practical understanding of legislative processes, federal institutions and the development needs of the people.
According to him, the former Minority Leader’s record provides constituents with tangible achievements against which his performance can be assessed.
“We are supporting Ndudi Elumelu because of his record, experience and capacity. He has represented this constituency before, and the evidence of that representation can be seen in communities across the four local government areas,” Bolum said.
He identified roads, electricity projects, water schemes, healthcare interventions, ICT centres, vocational centres, town halls, civic centres, drainage projects and other community infrastructure among the projects associated with Elumelu’s previous representation.
Bolum noted that the geographical spread of the interventions was significant, as projects were recorded across Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North and Oshimili South Local Government Areas.
He specifically mentioned communities including Onicha-Uku, Obior, Ogwashi-Uku, Ewulu, Ejeme, Ubulu-Uku, Ubulu-Unor, Akukwu-Igbo, Ebu, Ibusa, Idumuje-Unor and Idumuje-Ugboko, among others.
“From roads to electricity, from healthcare to ICT, from vocational training to community halls, there is a record of interventions that touched different aspects of life in the constituency,” he said.
The Integrity Group chairman further emphasised Elumelu’s legislative experience, noting that he served in the House of Representatives and subsequently rose to become Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives.
He argued that such experience would be valuable to the constituency, particularly in navigating the legislative, budgetary and oversight processes required to attract federal projects.
“Representation at the federal level requires more than making speeches during elections. It requires understanding the budget process, legislation, oversight and how to engage federal ministries and agencies to attract development to the constituency,” Bolum said.
He added that Elumelu’s previous experience had given him a working knowledge of these processes and positioned him to effectively engage the National Assembly and relevant federal institutions.
Bolum, however, expressed concern that the constituency had not witnessed what he described as the same level of visibility in federal representation in recent years.
“For the past three years plus, the voice of Aniocha/Oshimili has not been heard in the Green Chamber the way it was when Ndudi Elumelu was there. We have also not seen meaningful constituency projects or reasonable bills that directly address the needs and aspirations of our people,” he said.
The group chairman also drew attention to Elumelu’s interventions in youth development, particularly through ICT and vocational facilities, describing them as investments capable of improving skills acquisition and economic opportunities among young people.
He urged constituents to assess all aspirants on the basis of verifiable records, experience and capacity rather than campaign rhetoric.
“Let the people ask: What has each candidate done? What experience does each candidate have? What can each candidate realistically deliver? When you ask those questions, you will understand why we are supporting Ndudi Elumelu,” Bolum said.
He further argued that Elumelu’s former position as Minority Leader demonstrated his ability to operate effectively at the highest levels of legislative politics.
“That kind of experience is not something you acquire overnight. It gives the constituency an advantage because you are sending someone who already understands the system,” he said.
Bolum also cited community infrastructure projects as evidence of what he described as Elumelu’s grassroots-oriented approach to representation, listing an ICT centre and civic centre at Ogwashi-Uku, town halls at Ewulu and Ejeme, a civic centre at Ubulu-Uku, a vocational centre at Ubulu-Unor, as well as road, drainage, healthcare and solar street-light interventions.
He maintained that the projects cut across several sectors and reflected an approach to representation that went beyond a single area of development.
“The record cuts across infrastructure, education, technology, health, electricity and community development,” Bolum said.
As preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum, the Integrity Group chairman said the organisation would continue to mobilise support for Elumelu’s return to the House of Representatives.
“We believe Aniocha/Oshimili deserves effective representation. We believe Ndudi Elumelu has demonstrated that capacity, and we are therefore supporting his return to the House of Representatives,” he said.
Bolum said the group would focus its campaign on issues, achievements and verifiable records, rather than relying solely on political claims.
“We will not tell people to support him simply because we say he is the best. We will show them the record and allow them to judge,” he said.
He added: “Our message is simple: look at the record, look at the experience and look at what can be verified. We believe Ndudi Elumelu remains the strongest choice for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in 2027.”
