Elumelu Courts Igbo Stakeholders, Seeks Support for APC’s 2027 Victory

Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, OON, has appealed to Igbo stakeholders in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, to support the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Elumelu made the appeal during an engagement with Igbo community stakeholders, where he highlighted his legislative achievements, longstanding relationship with the Igbo community and commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy if returned to the Green Chamber in 2027.

The APC House of Representatives candidate commended the Igbo people for their resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to economic development, particularly in Asaba, where many have established thriving businesses in the hospitality and interior decoration industries.

He noted that the stakeholders’ extensive business networks and employment of hundreds of workers placed them in a strategic position to contribute to the electoral fortunes of candidates they believed in, urging them to mobilise support for his candidacy, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Elumelu used the occasion to highlight his record of representation in the House of Representatives, including interventions in the energy and health sectors, community development, security and empowerment programmes.

He assured the stakeholders that his return to the National Assembly would provide an opportunity to consolidate on those achievements and pursue further initiatives for the benefit of the constituency.

He also emphasized the longstanding relationship between his family and the Igbo community, recalling their history of mutual support and the cordial relationship his family maintained with the late former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.

In their separate remarks, the Delta State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Elder Moses Iduh, and the member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, who is seeking re-election, highlighted what they described as the gains of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms.

They explained that the reforms had strengthened the capacity of state governments, including the Delta State Government under Governor Oborevwori, to access increased allocations for infrastructure development, payment of salaries and pensions, and other public services.

The APC leaders also stated that local government councils had experienced improved financial capacity, enabling them to meet salary obligations and undertake capital projects for the benefit of their communities.

Speaking on behalf of the business community, the Managing Director of Golden Tulip Hotel, Asaba, Chief Chinedu Okeke, popularly known as Ekwe Ogidi, commended the Delta State Government for creating an environment conducive to business growth in Asaba and other parts of the state.

Okeke, who acknowledged the contributions of non-indigenes, particularly the Igbo community, to the state’s economy, thanked Elumelu for the engagement, saying it had provided an opportunity for stakeholders to understand his legislative record and contributions to the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

He subsequently pledged support for Elumelu’s bid to return to the House of Representatives in 2027.

Also speaking, the facilitator of the engagement and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigenes Affairs, Mr. Emeka Ebiliekwe, Esq., commended the Oborevwori administration for its inclusive approach to governance.

Ebiliekwe said non-indigenes were benefiting from the prevailing peace and security in Delta State, as well as the administration’s appointment and empowerment initiatives.

He assured Elumelu, Governor Oborevwori, President Tinubu and other APC candidates of the support of non-indigenes, particularly members of the Igbo community, in the forthcoming elections.

Those present at the engagement included the co-convener, Chief John Ifejiofor of Legend Interior; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Mr. Chinedu Obodo; the APC Chairman in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Dada Okolo; his deputy, Mrs. Nkechi Amaraegbu; and other stakeholders.
