Onwodi Unveils P.R.O.M.I.S.E. Manifesto, Pledges People-Centred Representation for Aniocha North Constituency I

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Aniocha North Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Fidel Onwodi, has unveiled an ambitious legislative manifesto anchored on seven development pillars designed to promote people-centred representation, infrastructure development, security, inclusive governance and economic empowerment.

Onwodi presented the manifesto, tagged “Fidel PROMISEs More Gains with Renewed Hope,” during a press briefing at his country home in Issele-Mkpitime, Aniocha North Local Government Area, where he outlined his vision for responsive leadership and sustainable development across the constituency.

The manifesto, built around the acronym P.R.O.M.I.S.E., represents seven pillars: People-Oriented Representation; Realistic Goals and Renewal of Public Trust; Open Door Policy; Modernisation of Community Infrastructure and Development; Inclusive Policies for All Constituents; Security, Stability and Social Welfare; and Empowerment through Education and Enterprise.

The candidate explained that the programme was designed to align his legislative priorities with the MORE agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori; the MORE GAINS agenda of the administration of Aniocha North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye; and the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on the people-oriented pillar, Onwodi said effective representation must begin with listening to the people, understanding their needs and ensuring that their concerns influence legislative decisions.

He pledged to maintain regular consultations with traditional rulers, youth organisations, women, farmers, professionals and community leaders, promising town hall meetings, an accessible constituency office, stakeholder engagement and legislation that reflects the aspirations of the people.

On the second pillar, Realistic Goals and Renewal of Public Trust, the APC candidate said public confidence could only be earned through honesty, transparency, accountability and demonstrable results. Drawing on his engineering background, he promised to pursue practical and achievable legislative priorities, communicate openly with constituents, advocate development projects with measurable benefits and exercise effective oversight to ensure that public resources and government interventions deliver value.

Addressing the Open Door Policy, Onwodi emphasised that representation should not end with election victories but must remain a continuous relationship between elected officials and the electorate.

He promised to establish accessible communication channels, maintain a functional constituency liaison office and undertake regular community visits and consultations to ensure that residents could present their concerns, ideas and expectations without unnecessary barriers.

On infrastructure and community development, the candidate identified roads, healthcare facilities, schools, water supply, electricity and digital connectivity as critical requirements for improving living standards and stimulating economic activities.

He pledged to use his technical knowledge and legislative position to advocate sustainable projects, strengthen development partnerships and promote a fair distribution of infrastructure across the communities in Aniocha North Constituency I.

He noted that strong community infrastructure would not only improve access to essential services but also create opportunities for commerce, education, employment and social development, even as he stressed that his approach would be guided by practical needs and projects capable of producing lasting benefits for the people.

Explaining the Inclusive Policies pillar, Onwodi said development would be incomplete if some communities or social groups were excluded from its benefits.

He therefore promised to advocate fair representation for every ward and promote opportunities for young people, women, farmers, artisans, persons with disabilities and small business owners.

According to him, inclusive governance requires that the interests of all constituents, irrespective of age, gender, background or social standing, receive adequate attention in legislative deliberations and development planning.

He added that broader participation in decision-making would strengthen unity, encourage shared responsibility and ensure that the constituency’s diversity became an asset for collective progress.

On Security, Stability and Social Welfare, Onwodi described peace as a necessary foundation for development, investment and the protection of lives and property.

The APC candidate pledged to support stronger collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents to improve community safety and prevent conflicts.

He also promised to advocate peace-building initiatives, constructive youth engagement and welfare interventions for vulnerable members of society and said that addressing the concerns of disadvantaged groups and providing positive opportunities for young people would contribute to more stable, peaceful and resilient communities.

The seventh pillar, Empowerment through Education and Enterprise, focuses on equipping constituents with the knowledge, skills and resources required to become economically productive and self-reliant.

Onwodi pledged to promote skills acquisition, vocational training, information and communication technology education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship and support for small businesses.

He further promised to advocate expanded educational and employment opportunities, particularly for young people and women, while encouraging partnerships capable of supporting innovation, job creation and enterprise development.

“Empowering individuals to build sustainable livelihoods would help reduce economic vulnerability and strengthen the constituency’s long-term development prospects,” he said.

Onwodi maintained that the P.R.O.M.I.S.E. framework was intended to provide a clear direction for his proposed representation, with emphasis on accessibility, accountability, equitable development and opportunities that improve the lives of constituents.

The APC candidate commended Governor Oborevwori and the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Hon Chinye for their respective commitments to the development of Delta State and Aniocha North Local Government Area.

He also praised the leadership and fatherly qualities of the immediate past governor of Delta State and APC Delta North Senatorial candidate, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON.

Onwodi called on the people of Aniocha North to work towards securing overwhelming victory for the APC across all levels in the forthcoming general elections, stressing the need for party unity and a coordinated campaign strategy.

According to him, political mobilisation should focus on the party rather than individual candidates, because it is the APC that appears on the ballot as the platform through which its candidates seek electoral victory.

Onwodi expressed confidence that a united party, supported by consistent engagement with the electorate and a clear development agenda, would strengthen the APC’s chances of success while advancing the interests of Aniocha North Constituency I.

The unveiling of the manifesto marks the candidate’s presentation of a policy framework through which he hopes to translate the principles of people-oriented leadership, accountable representation and economic opportunity into tangible benefits for the constituency.
