Oborevwori Charges Delta APC Campaign Council on Grassroots Mobilisation, Unveils MORE Plus

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council to intensify grassroots mobilisation and take the party’s message to every community ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori gave the charge on Thursday in Asaba during the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, where he unveiled MORE Plus as the theme of his re-election campaign.

The governor described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment in mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

He emphasised the need for the party to move beyond rallies and political meetings by engaging directly with voters, including market women, youths, workers, farmers and traders. He urged campaign coordinators at the local government and ward levels to strengthen their structures, collaborate with support groups and take the party’s message to every polling unit through door-to-door campaigns and personal interactions.

Oborevwori called on the campaign council to showcase the achievements of the APC-led governments, highlighting the Federal Government’s policies and his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.

He maintained that while the achievements of the governments would serve as a strong basis for the campaign, members must be prepared to communicate their impact effectively to the electorate.

The governor assured Deltans that political activities would not derail his administration’s development agenda, stressing that ongoing projects and programmes would continue throughout the campaign period. He also appealed to political leaders and their supporters to promote peaceful engagement, shun hate speech and prevent political differences from creating divisions in the state.

Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, commended Oborevwori for aligning Delta State with the Federal Government, urging party members to consolidate the gains of the partnership by working collectively towards victory in 2027.

Onyeme also called on APC faithful to publicise the achievements of the Tinubu administration in areas such as local government autonomy, education funding, grassroots development, security, electricity and road infrastructure.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, defended the economic reforms introduced by President Tinubu, explaining that difficult decisions were necessary to address the country’s underlying economic challenges.

Keyamo acknowledged the temporary hardship associated with the reforms but maintained that they were intended to tackle structural problems, including the unsustainable cost of fuel subsidies.

In his welcome address, Delta APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the inauguration of the campaign council demonstrated the party’s preparedness to contest and win elections at all levels in 2027.

He urged members to work in unity, mobilise voters peacefully and effectively communicate the achievements of APC-led governments to secure widespread electoral support.

Former Delta State Governor and Senator representing Delta North, Ifeanyi Okowa, said expectations were high following the mass defection of political leaders and supporters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April 2025.

Okowa challenged the campaign council to translate the party’s growing political strength into an impressive electoral performance, stressing that sustained grassroots engagement and direct contact with voters would be crucial to achieving the desired results.

Speaking on behalf of Delta Central Senatorial District, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor expressed satisfaction that the APC had become the ruling party in Delta State, pledging support for the re-election of Tinubu and Oborevwori.

Similarly, former Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, who spoke for Delta South Senatorial District, expressed confidence that the achievements of the Oborevwori administration would strengthen the party’s campaign. He assured the gathering that the district would work towards delivering substantial votes for the APC.

Former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, Stella Okotete, called on women across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of at least 75 per cent of the votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Responding, the Director-General of the campaign council, Senator James Manager, pledged to work closely with party leaders and members to secure victory for the APC in 2027.

Manager described the assignment as an onerous responsibility requiring collective commitment, effective coordination and sustained mobilisation across the state.

The Delta State APC Campaign Council is chaired by Governor Oborevwori, with Senator James Manager as Director-General and Mr Chiedu Ebie as Deputy Director-General, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
