The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., has urged students across Delta North Senatorial District to become active ambassadors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), taking the party’s message of unity, development and good governance to their campuses, families and communities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Onyeme gave the charge on Saturday at a rally tagged Delta North Students for APC, held in Asaba, where prominent APC leaders, political stakeholders and students from across the senatorial district gathered to demonstrate support for the party and its candidates.

Addressing the students, the Deputy Governor challenged them to deploy their influence, leadership positions and extensive networks within the academic community to promote constructive political participation and strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects.

He commended their show of solidarity, describing their presence at the rally as evidence of their commitment to the party’s political aspirations.

Onyeme urged the students to reach out to their colleagues, friends and family members, share the information gained from the engagement and encourage greater participation in the democratic process.

He also drew their attention to the opportunities available through the Renewed Hope Programme, encouraging them to seek relevant information and take advantage of government interventions designed to ease the financial burden of education on parents and support students’ development.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people, while commending the founder of FELD, Pastor Paul Adingupu, for investing in the future of students through the foundation’s initiatives.

He called on political leaders and well-meaning individuals to emulate the gesture by establishing programmes that would support students and reduce the cost of education for families.

Onyeme also announced the forthcoming Onyeme Foundation scholarship cheque presentation scheduled for November 8 at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, where 853 students who successfully participated in the foundation’s recently concluded scholarship examinations across Delta North would receive their awards. He invited education stakeholders and members of the public to the ceremony.

In his remarks, the immediate past Governor of Delta State and APC senatorial candidate for Delta North, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, charged students and young people to take their education seriously, embrace entrepreneurship, acquire practical skills and develop innovative ideas capable of creating employment and contributing to national development.

Okowa stressed that the future of the country depended significantly on the choices and contributions of the younger generation, urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Also addressing the gathering, the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, who spoke on behalf of APC candidates for the House of Representatives in Aniocha/Oshimili, Ika and Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituencies, called on students to translate their growing political awareness and organisational strength into concrete electoral support for the party.

Elumelu who is the APC Candidate for House of Representatives, Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, described students as a significant constituency in the political process, noting that their numerical strength, leadership capacity and influence across communities placed them in a strategic position to shape electoral outcomes.

He urged them to take advantage of their various platforms and networks to deepen political awareness, encourage voter participation and mobilise support for all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Minority Leader highlighted the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme and welfare initiatives of the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as important interventions aimed at expanding educational opportunities and addressing challenges confronting students.

He expressed confidence in the direction of the Tinubu administration, maintaining that its policies and programmes were designed to address the needs of Nigerians, including the student population.

Elumelu consequently appealed to the students to extend their support beyond the presidential and senatorial contests to the House of Representatives elections, urging them to vote for APC candidates across the three federal constituencies in Delta North at the polls scheduled for January 16, 2027.

The APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, accompanied by members of the party’s State Executive Committee, including Elder Moses Iduh and Engr. Dan Ossai, also urged the students to intensify their mobilisation efforts to ensure victory for APC candidates.

The Chairman of FELD, Pastor Paul Adingupu, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC leaders for their investments in youth development and education, urging students to remain actively involved in the electoral process.

Earlier, the Coordinator of Delta North Students for APC, Comrade Victor Ogechukwu Anthony, said the rally was organised to demonstrate the political commitment of students of voting age across the senatorial district and affirm their support for all candidates of the APC in the 2027 general elections.
