The Aniocha North Local Government Council has imposed an 11-hour night curfew on the Issele-Azagba community in Delta State as part of measures to address security concerns and protect lives and property.
The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts the movement of persons and vehicles in the community between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.
The directive was contained in a public Announcement issued by the council on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, following security reports and deliberations by the Aniocha North Local Government Peace and Security Committee.
According to the announcement, the restriction was approved to avert perceived threats to the lives and property of residents and other members of the public within the affected area.
The council urged residents and all persons within Issele-Azagba to comply strictly with the directive, warning that law enforcement agencies had been placed on full alert to ensure enforcement of the curfew.
It further cautioned that violators would face firm action by security operatives, stressing the need for public cooperation to achieve the objective of maintaining peace and security in the community.
The announcement was signed by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kennedy Okoh, on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government.
Residents are therefore advised to make the necessary adjustments to their movements and activities to comply with the restriction while the curfew remains in force.
