Cable Residents Applaud Elumelu for 500kVA Transformer, Five-Year Power Restoration

Residents of Cable area in Ward 10, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, have commended the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, for facilitating the installation of a 500kVA transformer and restoring electricity to the community after five years of darkness.

A resident of the area, Mr. Enweluzo Chukwuka Collins, who spoke on behalf of residents of Cable, expressed the appreciation while speaking with online media personality, Comrade Victor Egwunyenga, at the site where the transformer was installed.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Egwunyenga shared footage of the newly installed transformer and the surrounding area, where electricity supply has reportedly been restored following the intervention.

Collins explained that residents of Cable had endured prolonged power outage after the community’s former transformer developed a fault and eventually stopped functioning, leaving the area without electricity for about five years.

According to him, the situation had created considerable hardship for residents and businesses in the area until the matter was brought to the attention of Elumelu.

He said Elumelu responded promptly after being informed of the problem and directed that a new 500kVA transformer be provided for the community.

Collins further disclosed that the intervention went beyond the provision of the transformer, as Elumelu also ensured that it was installed, secured and connected to the national grid, resulting in the restoration of power to the affected area.

He said the restoration has brought considerable relief to residents of the five streets that make up the Cable area of Ward 10, Asaba.

“For five years, there was no light in the whole of Cable. But when the attention of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was drawn to the problem, he acted and electricity was restored to the area,” Collins said.

He added that the residents had mandated him to convey their appreciation to the former federal lawmaker, stressing that the intervention had further strengthened their confidence in his capacity to respond to the needs of the people.

According to Collins, residents of Cable have resolved to support Elumelu’s bid to return to the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election, saying they believe he would continue to contribute to the development and welfare of constituents.

He said residents were prepared to vote massively for the APC candidate in the January 16, 2027, election.

“The entire residents of Cable, which comprises five streets, have asked me to extend their immense appreciation to Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu. We are ready to work and vote for him in the forthcoming general election,” he said.

Collins added that the residents were so confident in their decision that they had asked Elumelu not to worry about coming to the area for campaign.

“In fact, they have asked me to inform him that he should not bother to come for campaign in Ward 10, Cable, Asaba. We are ready to vote for him anytime, any day,” he said.

The residents’ representative also disclosed that Elumelu had previously intervened in the renovation and furnishing of the police station operated by the B-Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Cable, describing the intervention as another indication of his commitment to the wellbeing and security of residents.

He said the combination of infrastructure support and attention to security-related needs had made many residents appreciative of Elumelu’s interventions in the area.

For the residents, the restoration of electricity is not only about the return of lighting to homes and streets, but also about the revival of small businesses and other economic activities that depend heavily on reliable electricity supply.

The development has also provided an opportunity for residents to publicly acknowledge individuals whom they believe have contributed to addressing critical challenges confronting the community.
