DELSU Overall Best Graduating Student With 4.91 CGPA Appeals To Okowa, Egwunyenga For Appointment By Daniel Dafe

Overall Best Graduating student in the Delta State University for the 2021/2022 Academic Session, Obuseh Emmanuel Ewere, has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, to see if the Delta State Government in conjunction with the Delta State University Council can consider some of them for scholarship to further in the field of their studies and job placement in the university, saying he is “weighed down by the thought of the labor market.”

Ewere, a graduate of Electrical/Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, with a CGPA of 4.91, said this while delivering his address during the 15th Convocation of the institution on Saturday.

Speaking, the First Class graduate who hails from Agbor in Ika-South Local Government Area of the state, added: “It is with great delight that I stand before you all as the best graduating student on this auspicious occasion of the 15th convocation of Delta State University. I must confess that there were efforts, but it was not solely by effort. The Bible says in Romans 9:16, “It’s not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” God has been merciful to me, merciful to us all as graduands, and merciful to Delta State University as an institution.”

He went on to appreciate his parents, Chief Barr and Mrs. Obuseh, for not only witnessing the honour done to him, but also “for not laboring in vain.”

He added: “Dad and mom, you have always been my reason for aiming for excellence, and I won’t stop making you proud. I appreciate my wonderful siblings, who served as emotional support at various times.”

While also thanking the student body of DELSU, he also commended Dr. Okowa, “for his consistent support in providing the needed peaceful atmosphere that has always enabled the management of the university to function effectively.”

He continued: “I also want to appreciate the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Prof. Andy Egwuyeanga, for his efforts on quality assurance, which are reflecting on the students’ performance. I appreciate the past and current Deans of the Faculty of Engineering, who ensured that we were drilled in the basics of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I appreciate the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engr. (Dr.) Oghogho Ikpomwosa, for coordinating the department toward excellence. To my project supervisor, Engr. Dr. U.K. Okpeki, and my course adviser, Engr. Dr. J.O. Eyenubo, I say thank you so much for your efforts. If I were to appreciate all my lecturers individually, words will never be enough. All the same, I thank all my hardworking and ardent lecturers in the 12 faculties at Delta state university.”

In his words of advice to Delsuites, he said: “Don’t give up. Get a dream. Fight on even when the odds are against you. You were born to be the best, even if you are not at your best at the moment. Keep studying when you have no one clapping for you. When hunger strikes, fight it back with more labor. The Bible says in Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the mouth tends only to poverty. Don’t be idle. Don’t be goalless. Chase perfection, and you will catch excellence.”
