Indigent Deltans Gets Food Items Tomorrow, Says Gov Okowa

To cushion the effect of the lockdown, Delta state government will tomorrow 17th of April commence distribution of food items to the economically disadvantaged.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa announced this today when he visited one of the food banks in the state located at Ibusa in Oshimili North local government area.

 

Governor Okowa said credible Deltans including council chairmen, clergymen, opinion leaders, women and youth representatives have been constituted into committees to ensure that the food items got to the right people.

 

According to him, bulk of the food items including rice,and  beans were procured by the state government while the rest came from donors.

He thanked the donors and called on others to contribute to the three food banks located at Ibusa, Warri and Asaba stressing that more food items were needed to reach all parts of the state.

 

Governor Okowa announced that the 4th case of Covid 19 recorded in the state was in Asaba isolation centre emphasizing that the two patients currently on treatment were doing well.

 

The governor said more blood samples have been sent to the laboratory for confirmation stressing that the result would come out soon.

He advised Deltans with symptoms of the virus to quickly reach out to medical experts or Covid-19 team to avert further complication and infection of other persons.

 

To owners of private health centres, Governor Okowa advised them to report any suspected case of Covid-19 to public health centres for treatment before they expose other persons to the contagious disease.

 

He said distribution of the first phase of one million face masks to be provided by his administration for residents of the state will start in two weeks.

 

He said that the face masks would be made of clothing materials that would be used continuously after being washed with soap and water.

He pledged the determination of his administration towards making the state safe and healthy for all in this period of Covid-19.

 

The governor was conducted round the food bank warehouse by the Secretary to the State Government Mr Chiedu Ebie,the Commissioner Bureau for Special Duties Mr Mofe Pirah  and the Commissioner for Information Mr Charles Aniagwu as well as  his counterpart in Oil and gas Prince Emma Agbamduba
