Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and the Akatakpo-Enyi 1 of Okpanam Kingdom, Chief Patrick Ukah, has called on the people of Obodogwugwu Community in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, to remain one indivisible entity and contribute meaningfully towards sustaining the peaceful co-existence among them.
Chief Ukah, who made the call in Okpanam recently during the enthronement ceremony of his uncle, Ogbueshi Williams Ukah, as the Diokpa-Isi of Obodogwugwu Community, advised all and sundry in the community to always embrace the spirit of commitment towards achieving a common objective.
While describing peace and unity as catalysts for socio-economic development and growth of any society, Chief Ukah gave the assurance that the reign of his uncle would usher in more progress to the community.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, however, stressed the need for the younger ones to always show respect for their elders, adding that they should learn from their elders in order to build their lives.
Earlier, the Diokpa-Isi (oldest) of Obodogwugwu Community, Ogbueshi Williams Ukah, appreciated his kingsmen for identifying with him on his ascension to the mantle of leadership of the community and appealed to his subjects to give him the needed support in his quest to move the community forward.
Ogbueshi Ukah, who said that he would do everything within his ability to ensure that the gains on peace and unity in the area would be consolidated for the overall well-being of not only the people of Obodogwugwu Community but Okpanam in general, just as he stated that he would operate an open door policy at all times.
In his remarks while unveiling a portrait of Ogbueshi Williams Ukah, sponsored by the leadership of Umuomake Youths, the Chairman , Comrade Fred Okolie, said that the youths decided to honour their eldest man with the portrait and pledged the support of the youths to the elders especially the Diokpa-Isi of the community.
The Umuadas also presented traditional akwaocha and beads to the Diokpa-Isi.
The ceremony was attended by all the Diokpas from the seven villages of Obodogwugwu and their subjects.
