Okowa Records Landslide Victory in Aniocha North APC Senatorial Primary, Polls 5,481 Votes Against Nwoko’s 1,343

Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa recorded a landslide victory in the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Primary Election in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, polling a total of 5,481 votes against Senator Ned Nwoko, who secured 1,343 votes.

A total of 6,824 voters participated in the primary election conducted on Monday across the 10 wards in Aniocha North Local Government Area under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while security agencies provided security coverage and ensured a peaceful exercise throughout the process.

Mr. Chika Collins Anwuzia served as the Local Government Collation Officer for the exercise.

The ward-by-ward breakdown of the results showed a dominant performance by Okowa across most of the wards.

In Ward 1, Okowa polled 1,301 votes against Nwoko’s 76 votes, while Ward 2 recorded 385 votes for Okowa and 100 votes for Nwoko.

Ward 3 produced 330 votes for Okowa and 147 votes for Nwoko, while Ward 4 recorded 668 votes for Okowa against 139 votes for Nwoko.

In Ward 5, Okowa secured 1,228 votes while Nwoko polled 122 votes. Ward 6 recorded 520 votes for Okowa and 12 votes for Nwoko.

Ward 7 gave Okowa 139 votes against Nwoko’s 47 votes, while Ward 8 recorded 327 votes for Okowa and 275 votes for Nwoko.

In Ward 9, Nwoko emerged ahead with 407 votes against Okowa’s 309 votes, while Ward 10 recorded 274 votes for Okowa and 18 votes for Nwoko.

Despite the conclusion of the exercise and collation of votes, the results were not officially declared in line with the directive of the national leadership of the APC.

Political observers described the outcome as a major demonstration of Okowa’s political strength and grassroots support within Aniocha North Local Government Area.
