Popular entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the House of Representatives primary election in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest, who had earlier shown interest in contesting for the APC ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency, made his position known in a series of posts shared on his official Instagram page on Sunday.
The celebrity businessman declared that his support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and the Renewed Hope agenda remained firm and unwavering.
“For the record, my commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 remains absolute and unwavering,” he stated.
“I will continue vigorously with our advocacy and mobilisation efforts for the success of the Renewed Hope agenda. The APC remains my party, today and always. I remain loyal and committed to the ideals and leadership of our great party.”
Cubana Chief Priest explained that he eventually stayed away from the primary election process after consultations with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and other leaders of the party.
According to him, Governor Uzodimma informed him of the party’s zoning arrangement within the federal constituency, which favours Orlu Local Government Area retaining the seat for at least two terms before it rotates to another council area.
The socialite noted that the governor also reminded him that his elder brother, Asiwaju Jerry Alagboso, had previously represented the constituency in the House of Representatives for three terms.
“As a loyal party man and committed progressive, I understood and respected that position,” he wrote.
Cubana Chief Priest maintained that although his aspiration was motivated by concerns that the constituency deserved stronger representation, he chose to respect the decision of the party leadership.
“In respect for the party and its leadership, I chose not to proceed to the field, and indeed, I never did. Nobody will say they saw me anywhere around the primaries venue. In fact, I did not participate, as I headed straight back to Lagos,” he added.
He also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he participated in the primary election and scored only 14 votes, describing the reports as false and misleading propaganda.
Despite stepping aside from the race, Cubana Chief Priest said he had no regrets over his political ambition, noting that his involvement helped to stimulate political consciousness and engagement across the constituency.
Following the development, Seyi Tinubu sent him a message of encouragement through Instagram, urging him to remain focused and optimistic.
“Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up,” Seyi Tinubu wrote.
Cubana Chief Priest is widely regarded as a strong supporter of the Tinubu administration and currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a political support group backing the President.
