Elumelu Family Redeems ₦100m Annual Faith Commitment …Donates ₦50m Each to Asaba Anglican, Issele-Uku Catholic Dioceses

The Elumelu family has fulfilled the first phase of its five-year commitment to support Christian evangelism and infrastructural development with the release of ₦50 million each to the Anglican Diocese of Asaba and the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku.

The donations, amounting to ₦100 million, represent the family’s annual thanksgiving offering to God in appreciation of His enduring faithfulness, abundant blessings and divine preservation over the years.

The landmark commitment was first announced in April this year during the funeral rites of late Pa Israel Chinwuba Ogbue, the late father-in-law of renowned entrepreneur and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, CFR.

Speaking on behalf of Tony Elumelu at the solemn gathering, the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, disclosed that the family had resolved to donate ₦50 million annually for five consecutive years to each of the two dioceses as an expression of gratitude to Almighty God for His immeasurable goodness and untiring mercies upon the Elumelu family.

With the release of the first tranche, the family has demonstrated its resolve to honour the pledge, reaffirming that commitments made before God and His people should be faithfully kept.

According to the family, the intervention is intended to strengthen ongoing developmental initiatives within the two dioceses, particularly projects that enhance worship, evangelism, education, pastoral services, humanitarian outreach and other programmes that positively impact the lives of the faithful and the wider society.

The gesture reflects the Elumelu family’s longstanding tradition of supporting faith-based institutions and community development, anchored on the conviction that the Church remains a vital partner in promoting moral values, compassion, peace, social cohesion and sustainable human development.

The annual donations are also expected to complement the developmental aspirations of both dioceses by providing additional resources for priority projects that will benefit present and future generations of worshippers.

The gesture stands as a profound expression of faith-driven generosity. Beyond its financial significance, it reflects a deep sense of gratitude to Almighty God, exemplifies responsible stewardship of God’s blessings, and reinforces the enduring values of compassion, selfless giving and commitment to the spiritual and social development of society.

As the five-year programme progresses, the annual donations are expected to deepen the partnership between the Elumelu family and the two dioceses, while contributing meaningfully to projects that will continue to advance the spiritual and social mission of the Anglican Communion and the Catholic Church across the region.
