Oborevwori Mourns Late Sunny Kotor, Hails His Legacy of Service …As Staff Of Delta Government House Pay Tributes

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described his late Protocol Aide, Mr. Sunny Kotor as a dedicated public servant whose exemplary service, humility and professionalism left an enduring mark on the administration and the people of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori who, yesterday, paid glowing tribute to the late aide, who passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 63, said his death was a painful loss to his (deceased) family, colleagues and the state.

Represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, at a day of tribute held in honour of the late Kotor at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, the Governor noted that the deceased served with discipline, loyalty and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring order and dignity in official engagements throughout his years in service.

According to him, the late protocol aide discharged his responsibilities with quiet excellence and unwavering commitment, earning the trust and admiration of all who worked with him.

Governor Oborevwori also recalled Sunny Kotor’s remarkable talent as a Master of Ceremonies, noting that his voice and presence became a familiar feature at government functions across the state.

“With eloquence and warmth, he brought life to formal occasions and made every event memorable. What defined him most was his character; he was respectful, dependable and deeply committed to service,” the Governor said.

He added that beyond being an aide, the deceased was a team player who related easily with people and carried himself with humility, and loyalty, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and associates alike.

The Governor further described the late Kotor, a native of Okwagbe Waterside, as a proud son of his community whose life embodied integrity, excellence and selfless service.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s wife, children and the entire Kotor family, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and comfort them with the enduring legacy of the departed.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, we deeply appreciate his invaluable contributions to this administration. His service will not be forgotten.

“As we bid him farewell, let us remember not only the sadness of his departure but also the value of his life and the excellence of his service. He has completed his journey and played his part. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the Governor stated.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the state Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode, described the late Sunny Kotor who, until his death, was a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, as a committed public servant, dependable partner and a man whose life was marked by faith, friendship and selfless service.

Chief Onoriode said the gathering was not only to mourn Kotor’s passing but also to celebrate a life that left an enduring impact on many, saying “although Kotor’s demise had brought immense grief, the memories and values he left behind would continue to inspire generations.”

According to him, the Okwagbe Kingdom and the family of the deceased had lost an outstanding personality and committed leader whose contributions to the growth and unity of the community would remain indelible.

In their separate remarks at the solemn assembly, the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpovwhowho; the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads) who spoke on behalf of the College of Commissioners, Comrade Reuben Izeze; an academic icon, Prof. Godini Darah who spoke on behalf of Old Students Association of Saint Vincent College, Okwagbe and other speakers, described the late Sunny Kotor as a man of integrity, an orator, a patriot, pride of Urhobo land and a man that used his office to positively impact lives.

They, therefore, urged his family to immortalise him by upholding the legacies he epitomized on earth, adding that they should take solace in the fact that the deceased lived an impactful live of service.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, one of the children of the deceased, Efe Kotor, said the family has lost a rare gem, a strong pillar of support, a confidant and a peace maker.

She expressed appreciation to the state government and other well-wishers for identifying with the family since the death of their father, even as she promised that they will uphold the legacies that he radiated while on earth.
