The Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon. Pastor Joseph Otirhue, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of the Chairmen of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Ika North East and Ika South Local Government Councils, Comrade Emmanuel Jolly Nwama and Comrade Nnamdi Memeh.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission and the entire staff of the Unified Local Government Service of Delta State, Otirhue described the demise of the two labour leaders as a painful loss to the local government family and the state’s workforce.
The LGSC Chairman extended his heartfelt sympathies to the leadership of the Delta State chapter of NULGE, the Chairmen, management, staff and workers of the Ika North East and Ika South Local Government Councils, as well as the bereaved families of the deceased.
According to him, the Commission received with profound sadness the news of the untimely passing of Comrade Emmanuel Jolly Nwama and Comrade Nnamdi Memeh, whose lives were tragically cut short on July 21, 2026.
Otirhue noted that the late union leaders were committed members of the Unified Local Government Service whose contributions to the welfare of workers and the growth of the local government system would be remembered.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls and asked God Almighty to grant their families, colleagues, members of NULGE and the entire Unified Local Government Service the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“On behalf of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission and the entire staff of the Unified Local Government Service of Delta State, I deeply sympathise with the Delta State NULGE, the Ika North East and Ika South Local Government Councils, their chairmen, staff and the families of Comrade Emmanuel Jolly Nwama and Comrade Nnamdi Memeh over their sudden death.
“We at the Commission are deeply touched and concerned over the demise of the two labour leaders whose lives were cut short by the wicked hands of death.
“As they have departed this world, we pray for the peaceful repose of their souls and ask God Almighty to grant their families, colleagues and the entire workforce of the Unified Local Government Service the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May God grant them eternal rest,” he said.
