…Commission Solar-Powered Boreholes, Street Lights to Improve Water Supply, Security
Residents of seven communities in Delta State have received a major boost in access to potable water and public safety following the commissioning of solar-powered boreholes and street lights by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) in partnership with Grosvenor Global Services Limited.
The community development projects, executed under Grosvenor Global Services Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, comprise solar street lights installed in Ajomata, Ikweghwu and Ibada-Amukpe communities, as well as solar-powered boreholes provided for Ibada-Elume, Oyohen, Amukpe and Adagrassa communities in Okpe and Sapele Local Government Areas of Delta State.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Engr. Kestin Pondi, said the projects underscore the company’s commitment to improving the quality of life in communities within its operational areas.
Represented by the company’s Manager, Community Relations, Pastor Seimode A. Benedict, Engr. Pondi explained that the projects were facilitated by Grosvenor Global Services Limited, one of Tantita’s subcontractors, as part of its commitment to giving back to host communities.
He stressed that safeguarding Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure should go beyond surveillance to include meaningful investments in the welfare and socio-economic development of host communities.
According to him, “At Tantita, we encourage our partners and subcontractors to undertake projects that address the genuine needs of our host communities and foster peaceful coexistence. As we commission these projects today, let us continue to strengthen the bond of trust, cooperation and mutual respect that has made our collective achievements possible.”
The Tantita Managing Director also urged residents of the benefiting communities to take ownership of the facilities by protecting and maintaining them to ensure their longevity and continued service.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Ajomata Community, Mr. Cyril Omor-Oba, expressed appreciation to Tantita and Grosvenor for the intervention, noting that the newly installed solar street lights would significantly enhance security and improve movement within the community at night.
While appealing for additional street lights to extend coverage to other parts of the community, he assured the companies that residents would safeguard the facilities against vandalism.
Community representatives from Ibada-Amukpe and Ikweghwu also lauded the initiative, describing the street lighting project as a welcome development that has improved visibility along major roads and public spaces.
Similarly, the Chairman of Ibada-Elume Community, Mr. Friday Omerhiowan, described the solar-powered borehole as a timely intervention that would ease residents’ long-standing challenges in accessing safe and clean drinking water.
The newly commissioned projects are expected to improve access to potable water, enhance public safety through better street lighting, stimulate economic and social activities, and further strengthen the cordial relationship between Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, its partners and host communities.
