In his remarks, Engr Onwodi expressed deep appreciation to the party leadership and stakeholders for their overwhelming support since he declared his intention to contest. He described the show of solidarity as a clear indication that the time for a “divinely ordained change” in Aniocha North had come.

He pledged to deliver people-oriented representation, emphasizing that his focus would be on bringing government closer to the grassroots and ensuring that projects executed under his watch would directly address the needs of the people rather than serve as mere contractual obligations.

A major highlight of the meeting was the public alignment of other aspirants with Onwodi’s candidacy.

In a show of unity, Dr. Chiedu Nwaghodo, who had earlier obtained expression of interest forms, openly declared his support for Engr Onwodi, noting that after careful reflection and consultation, he was convinced that Onwodi possesses the vision, capacity, and grassroots connection required to effectively represent Aniocha North.

He urged party members and supporters to rally behind a common cause, emphasizing that collective interest and party cohesion must take precedence over individual ambition in order to secure victory in 2027.

Also speaking, Prince Uzoma Idabor, who had also indicated interest, affirmed his alignment with Onwodi’s aspiration, citing his capacity to effectively represent the constituency. Idabor acknowledged the growing call for a new direction in representation and expressed confidence in Onwodi’s ability to deliver.

Idabor also stressed the importance of collaboration with the current officeholder, noting that experience gathered over the years would remain valuable for continuity and progress.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Chinye, called for unity within the party, reiterating the supremacy of the APC. He urged members to remain committed to collective development, regardless of personal interests, and appealed to Prince Idabor to take up the role of Campaign Director General for the party’s candidates across all levels in the local government.

The climax of the gathering came with the formal endorsement of Onwodi by Chief Nkem Okwuofu, who is widely regarded as the political leader of APC in Aniocha North.

Chief Okwuofu expressed satisfaction with the calibre of aspirants from the area, noting that it reflected the political strength and maturity of the local government area. She, however, declared that after due consultations and consideration, the party leadership had resolved to back Engr Onwodi as its candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly in 2027, a pronouncement that was greeted with applause and celebration by attendees.

In his remarks, the APC Chairman in the local government, Sir Mathew Chinye, commended party leaders and stakeholders for their unity and support, describing Onwodi’s emergence as a product of collective goodwill and divine favour.

The endorsement is widely seen as a significant step in consolidating party unity and strengthening APC’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections in Aniocha North.
